Sun 28th April  Shepshed Sevens 2002

Shepshed Albion F C hosted the inaugural staging of their junior seven a side football tournament in April 2002.

Featuring age groups U8, U9, U10 and U11s, the event attracted 60 teams and over 500 children to the venue at Hind Leys College playing fields in Shepshed.

In the Under 8 division Loughborough United ran out winners beating Kingsway 3-0 in the final. The Under 9 age group provided a home victory for Shepshed A who overcame Mountsorrel in the final by a single goal. Kegworth Under 10s denied Shepshed another trophy by finally triumphing in a penalty shoot - out after a hard fought goalless final. The last match of the tournament played in glorious evening sunshine was the final of the Under 11 division. This game provided a dramatic finale with Mountsorrel scoring a last minute goal to defeat Shepshed B 2-1.
