Next workshop – Tuesday 20th February

Following our great masterclass with Andy Tweed at the end of last half term, our next South Devon Youth Jazz workshop is on Tuesday 20th Februaryat Newton Abbot College from 6-7:30pm (£3).

We’ll be following on from some of the items covered by Andy in the masterclass so if you missed it, don’t worry!

Newton Abbot College – Venue Directions

Head to Old Exeter Road, Newton Abbot (close to Asda/Newton Abbot Leisure Centre) and if you are heading towards the town centre from the A38, Newton Abbot College will be clearly marked as a red-bricked building on your left.

If following signs towards Bovey Tracey/Newton Abbot out of the town passed Asda, the school will be clearly marked on your right.

Please park in front of the school and someone will meet you to direct you through the subway underneath the main road, following the South Devon Youth Jazz signs to the music department building, which is through the gate on your right and is marked ‘Music’.

Once in the department, head straight on and you will find us!

April Masterclass with trombonist Tom Green!

We are excited to announce that our next South Devon Youth Jazz masterclass will be hosted by top jazz trombonist Tom Green.

Tom was awarded the Dankworth Composition Prize in 2013 and runs his own septet, plays with the Brass Funkeys, the Patchwork Jazz Orchestra and Gareth Lockrane Big Band amongst many other projects.

This will be a great workshop for any young people interested in jazz, improvisation, trombone, or all of the above!

The workshop will be on Tuesday 24th April, 6-8pm, with a gig afterwards – please put this in your diaries and encourage everyone to attend.
